At Schwab, the Mutual Fund Technology organization manages mission critical applications that support the Mutual Fund business. The organization's mission is to build and maintain applications that enable and support trading, placement, and clearing of Mutual Funds and reconcile and report on trades with internal and external entities to achieve targeted business outcomes and also address compliance, risk, and security. We enable Mutual Fund business departments and related domain dependencies spanning across multiple business and technology organizations.

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to create, maintain, support, and improve complex technology operations for groundbreaking data analytics platforms, with special emphasis around continuous improvement (CI/CD) of processes by applying modern engineering principles around DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering.  You will be working with a team of talented technologists and SMEs who bring a lot of energy, focus and fresh ideas that support our mission to provide value by seeing the world “Through Clients' Eyes.”

  • Evaluating complex user requests and clarifying and communicating the objectives in a clear and concise manner.
  • Conducting and preparing feasibility studies for new and existing applications.
  • Leading projects with moderate complexity and scope.
  • Making a positive influence on your team members and peers.
  • Providing technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with team mates to share best practices, review logic, and learn new technologies.
  • Work with several different database systems and business processes.
  • Collaborate with the development teams and technology leaders across Schwab technology on product development, best practices, and automation.
  • Accessing and applying emerging technologies, practices, and processes and strategizing and executing projects to improve efficiency and innovation.

What you have


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Hands on experience gained through 4-5+ years in a software development role.
  • Experience with full stack application development technologies, including C#, RESTful APIs, front end technologies such as Angular or React, ASP.NET web forms, MVC, JSON/XML, Relational (SQL/Oracle) and Document-Based (No-SQL/MongoDB) databases, and Cloud technologies.
  • The ability to work independently and to effectively interact and collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies.
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers.
  • Experience creating software designs and reviewing then with development teams.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner who can manage multiple projects with moderate direction.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Nice to have the industry knowledge of Mutual Fund trading and clearing business.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
