It is summed up in our tagline – Own your tomorrow – and it permeates everything we do.

The design of the program invites interns to engage directly in Schwab’s culture of service, while challenging them with a blend of learning programs, team-building activities, networking opportunities, and enriching work projects. Features of our 2023 program include:

What you are good at

2 Accounting Tracks

1) Finance – Controllers – SOX Compliance and Internal Control Audits Intern

The Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Office (SCO) performs risk assessment, scoping, testing, concluding, and results reporting for the annual assessments of management’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for SOX and FDICIA, and the annual assessments of management’s Internal Control over Compliance (ICOC) for SEA Rule 17a-5. The SCO supports Schwab’s mission by assessing controls addressing the completeness and accuracy of Schwab’s financial reporting, and Schwab’s financial reporting is used to secure financing so the company can meet the needs of our clients. In addition, the SCO assesses ICOC addressing the protection of client assets, which gives clients comfort to invest their assets with Schwab.

The intern will have a unique opportunity to split their internship with the SCO’s Business Process and IT testing specialists to allow them to explore multiple areas of the assessment and to discover the areas in which they excel and that they most enjoy. They will partner with members of the SCO to conduct walkthrough meetings, to perform testing and issue analysis, and to provide testing results. Through these steps, the intern will gain exposure to many areas of the company and will begin to learn how Schwab is structured and operates.

What you'll do:

  • Support a risk-based approach to Schwab's annual ICFR and ICOC assessments by seeking and applying understanding of Schwab's risks and controls

  • Assist in other project assessment activities, such as system conversion testing and acquisition integrations
  • Encourage and participate in a high performing, engaged, and positive team environment
  • Improve and innovate the SCO’s assessment and operational approaches, including with automation and data visualization tools

What you have:
